Happy Chinese New Year!

For all you single people out there that can't stand V-day, then celebrate Chinese New Year. Today marks the "Year of the Metal Tiger". The tiger is the third animal in the Chinese New Year cycle. If you were born in 1914, 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986 and 1998 then you fall under the tiger sign. I, on the other hand, am an Ox or Bull. People born under the Tiger sign are known to be a force to be reckoned with. They can be quite unpredictable, courageous, protective and loving. However, the traits above can lead a tiger to become stubborn (believing they always know what is right) and irresponsible.

To celebrate Chinese New Year, try these traditions.

1. Usually, people clean house before the new years starts to remove their home of evil and bad spirits. Even though the new year is here, it's still a good thing to do.

2. Red is a color of luck. Decorate your house with red items especially the doors and windows.

3. Don't sweep during the first few days. It is believed that you will sweep away the good luck in your home.

4. Pass out oranges and tangerines to children and guests. They symbolize wealth and good luck.

5. Gather together with family and friends. Enjoy time with the people you lean on.
