Wow, it’s been a crazy couple of days. Moving was a nightmare and a major headache. It wasn’t so much packing as much as it was dealing with Uhaul and the rain. First, I had to go pick up the truck. So, I head to the road it’s on and see the Johnson’s Auto that’s supposedly an authorized Uhaul dealer. Then, I can’t find the entrance. I call and the guy claims they’re on that road. I look all over the place and can’t find a door that’s not locked or meant for “delivery only”. I finally find someone and he says they don’t sell truck of any kind. Confused yet. I call again and the guys leads me down the other way of that road and into this rough driveway that looks like a dirt lot of abandoned 18 wheelers. Turns out that was the place. You’d think since they share the same name as the business up the road they get a huge sign or change names. (I guess it just makes too much sense.) I finally get the truck, drive it home and continue packing. Just as I’m ready to start loading it, it starts to rain ☹. And guess what, it doesn’t let up until I’m mostly done packing everything. Nature’s funny like that.
Luckily, my sis was nice enough to drive it up north while I drove her car. Unloading wasn’t hard either, but then came time to return it. I call the number I was given and the woman gives me a location in town (another authorized dealer). We get there and he says they’re full. I was confused, tired and aggravated. Why wouldn’t the woman contact them first to make sure they could accept the truck instead of having us drive to the next location to see if they could take it? They’ve been doing this for years you’d think someone would develop a database for them for drop-offs. When I tried to call back, I was on hold for the longest time. They never even picked. The location that was full directed us to another place, a gas station, which might take it. They were also full. But the guy was nice enough to try and work something out for us. All in all I would avoid dealing with authorized dealers and go with an actual Uhaul site. Things just seem to run smoother there.
Have a moving nightmare worse than this? Post it here and share. Cause sharing is caring ☺.
